Clarissa Payne was born in Somerset and gained a scholarship to Wells Cathedral School where she studied with Kirsten Spratt and won the school’s concerto prize. She went on to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with Sarah Newbold and Ian Clarke and winning the Sutton Festival.
After college, she moved to remote east Iceland to teach at a music school and became fascinated by the country. She then accepted a post in Abu Dhabi, where she performed solo and with the Abu Dhabi Chamber Orchestra.
Now based in Bristol, Clarissa is an active participant in the city’s diverse music scene, performing and recording with classical, rock, folk, jazz and circus artists.

As a duo Clarissa and Adam reach beyond the obvious choices and explore repertoire from Schubert to Ravi Shankar.

“I have just returned from Cheltenham Town Hall where  I spent a very enjoyable hour in the company of Adam Khan and Clarissa Payne. I must say the repertoire made a very refreshing change.”
